HELPING ADOLESCENTS TO WHOLESTIC DEVELOPMENT

Appreciation – Praise children for trying new things, for not conforming to what their peers are doing; and for taking care of household or school responsibilities, no matter how small.

Sense of Belonging
– Help children to participate in local sports events, extracurricular activities and group hobbies, but avoid overload, focus on activities that are meaningful and have the potential to be lasting.

Confidence – Encourage children to make an effort with regard to tasks and projects and to follow through their commitments. Notice and celebrate their accomplishments.

Competences – Help children to build skills necessary for meeting household and family responsibilities, working in groups and teams and exercising leadership. Encourage them to view doing choices as preparation for adult life. Help them to build their study and planning skills for projects and assignments.

Contribution – Involve children in family decisions about helping others, encouraging them to give some of the gifts they receive to these in greater need. In this way they will learn about the benefits of being involved in the community.

When parents and guardians focus on these factors, they engender positive, lasting, caring and respectful relationship with their children. These factors also sense as important guidelines for educators as they structure the classroom, formulates the school rules and consider extracurricular opportunities for their students.
